FAQs

Why did you change your name?

We chose to change our name to better reflect what we offer to our customers. While we have always provided banking services, the term "credit union" sometimes led to confusion. By rebranding as Bank, we aim to more clearly communicate the full range of services we provide.

Are you still customer-owned?

Rest assured we are still proudly customer-owned. Our business structure and the way we operate remain the same, only our public-facing name has changed to Broken Hill Bank.

What is a customer-owned bank?

Customer-owned banks are also known as mutual banks, credit unions and building societies. They are owned by their customers who are members of the bank. In general, profits made are reinvested into better products and services for members, instead of being distributed to investors. Click here for more information on customer owned banking

Current members FAQ

How will this name change affect my current accounts and services?

Your accounts and services will continue as usual. The change to Broken Hill Bank is only in trading name and branding. All your account details, features, and benefits remain unchanged.

Can I still use online banking and mobile apps with the new name?

Yes, you can! Our online banking and mobile apps will be updated to display the new Broken Hill  Bank name. You’ll have the same convenient access to all your financial services.

What happens to my visa debit cards that have the old name?

Your existing cards will continue to work as they always have. The design to your visa debit card will happen over time, however, Digital Wallet users will see their digital card updated soon.

Will the website address change and login URL change?

The website address over time will change to brokenhill.bank but if you have bookmarked bhccu.com.au the link will automatically redirect you to the new web address.

Bookmarked online banking logins will also take you to the new address for login. Your member number and login details will remain the same.

Customers will see a rollout of our new name and new branding (the look and feel of the website) over the coming weeks.

Will the phone number change?

Members can still contact our team on 08 8088 2199, our phone number remains the same.

Community banking FAQ

Will the name change affect your involvement in the community?

No. Our dedication to supporting the community remains as strong as ever. We’ll continue to engage in community initiatives, sponsor events, and partner with organisations under our new trading name.

How are you ensuring a smooth transition during this rebranding?

We’ve taken great care to make this transition as smooth as possible. Our team is fully prepared to support you, and we will update systems and communication channels to reflect our new branding. Your experience with Broken Hill Bank will be just as seamless as before.

As mentioned, there's no need to be concerned if you still see the name Broken Hill Community Credit Union on some of your documents - your accounts and terms remain the same.

We're in the process of updating all our branding, and there's no action required on your part. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us or visit us in branch.

Thank you for choosing Broken Hill Bank.
